There was a lot of news about Jenkins Park, the fight, the police hospitalized and the body cam footage that came out.
Here is a video created that we wanted to share. Realize the video is so violent, tiktok took it down instantly within seconds.
First let's talk not about what happened... but what we saw.
1. We saw officers pepper spraying the crowd
2. We were told 2 officers were hospitalized. That sounds really bad, right. One went to the hospital because of pepper spray.
3. We see officers grabbing people from behind.

There was a planning and zoning meeting. There are just over 1000 residents currently and the apartments estimate these apartments would bring in 500 or so residents. That does seem substantial.
The concerns voiced by residents about environment and state of the area are valid.
However, a greater concern is one resident's reply indicating the land was previous the Mayor's and the mayor's wife owns the realty. If you go to the Linkedin of the Hon. Mayor, you will see he was in real estate.

How is this not a conflict of interest or legally actionable offense?
If the mayor of Las Vegas could take heat for hiring her brother's company then, maybe the wife of the sitting mayor could wait on this deal.
If the Mayor will financially benefit from this action perhaps, think about using the precedence of fine.... but the only profit can be $1. NY mayor tried to hire his brother and he could but at $1. So, in this case as long as the mayor's wife profits only $1, we are good! We might even be generous and consider inflation... $2. This seems fair.

We moved to Norwich in Aug 2023 and sat that local election out, this will be our first. Having done my research the most obvious conclusion I have so far is that one candidate for Mayor in 2025 has never done anything to make Norwich more affordable during his time serving on the City Council.
Great information, thanks for sharing. Got me to do a little research. Not a ton of info found so far, but did find this from 2018:
Overcast , with a high of 78 and low of 62 degrees. Overcast for the morning, sunny for the afternoon, clear in the evening, mist overnight.
Moved here a couple years back from Massachusetts, and we really like living in Norwich. One of the first things I did when we moved in, I sent my info in to volunteer for the baseball stadium authority. Obviously I never heard back, Norwich abandoned that group years back and let the stadium go into bad shape.
A couple of points...
Yes, it is true that American Rescue Plan funds may very well have been re-allocated for other uses, but they weren't. The objections opposing their reallocation should have been objected to when the City Council was presenting it.
And had I not been in the hospital at the time I would’ve been glad to object it but that’s what happened. Of course, those reallocation should’ve never happened in the first place if we had an ethical committee.
Thanks Marcia! We are onboard with the boycott.
Also will point out that I found these arguments made here in opposition to the boycott to be very unconvincing.
I agree about Norwich not being ADA friendly, just the sidewalks alone are either not wide enough, have a telephone pole in the middle of the sidewalk or better yet have trees hanging over the sidewalk, tall grass and weeds littering the way for individuals.
Agreed. I was working at the elementary schools in Kelly, teaching coding and games and I made this one a couple years ago.
